People who visited the beautiful island of Bali could attest to how stunning the place is. But no matter how amazing it is, encountering stray and street dogs are very common while strolling around. Though the government is making all their efforts to control and prevent rabies outbreak incidents, locals and private organizations are also take the matters in their own hands to provide the best life they can possibly give to the poor dogs.
Known for its Hindu faith, Bali has one important figure in Hindu belief and that is Yudhishthira, a king who had approached heaven with his dog. This common belief exists among many Hindus that caring for or adopting dogs can also pave a way to heaven.
Just like the story of this husky that was found on the street in frail and malnourished condition by a concerned netizen named Rico Soegiarto.
The 26-year-old first encountered the pup on the streets of Denpasar, she had bald spots and was so thin you could see her bones through her diseased skin. She didn’t have long left to live. Despite her condition, however, her brilliant blue eyes still shone bright and Rico knew that he had to give the neglected pup a second chance.
Rico told Bored Panda:
“I don’t know what was special about her. It’s about heart and feeling. I found her when I was on the way back home from work, she was in the middle of the street.”
After carefully nursing the husky back to health, with grooming, pet visits and plenty of good food, Rico shared the results of his beloved new pet’s transformation. Amazingly, the poor husky became healthy with thick, lustrous coat and those same burning blue eyes. The husky seemed to adore the one who saved her.
“She loves getting petted and eats plenty of cookies!”
“And she is so sociable that she worries me sometimes. There are many thieves in Bali.”
Because of Rico, the husky, whom he named Hope, is now safe and have a shelter. Rico has 4 other dogs and is a dedicated animal lover. Now, Hope is part of a happy family with Rico.
