While some children are blessed to have a well-provided and comfortable life, others, on the other hand, had to endure the daily lack and difficulty to survive. Aside from enduring struggles at home, they also need to endure difficulties at school. With that in mind, a 12-year-old boy does his homework under the streetlight and it breaks the hearts of many.

To be able to have a brighter future and get out from poverty, this 12-year-old boy from the town of Moche in Peru is determined to do his homework on the sidewalk under the streetlight because his family couldn’t afford electricity at home.

He is Víctor Martín Angulo Córdoba. He was seen doing his homework on a sidewalk across the street, depending on the light of the pole to finish it. His video quickly went viral and caught the attention of many after the Moche police department shared it on Facebook.

One of the staff of the police department noticed the boy when they were checking security cameras. They zoomed in to see what the boy was doing at that time and they found out that the boy was reading and writing in his notebook.

According to the boy’s mother, Rosa Córdoba Angulo, they couldn’t afford to pay for the electricity.

“That’s my problem since I don’t have electricity,” she told Panamericana TV.

“One day my son said ‘If I continue with the candle, I will lose my mind! I’d better go outside to finish my homework,’” she added.

Victor had no plans of stopping going outside and does his homework.

“I want to help my family progress,” Victor said.

“I would like to be able to help my family and lift them up. I want to become a policeman and put an end to corruption.”
