This elderly woman from Mt. Province speaks English fluently without having a formal education.

In a world full of judgemental people, persons who didn’t have a formal education or didn’t finish school are often criticized and belittled. They often received discrimination whether in the workplace, friends or even in the family. Sad but true!

But an old woman recently amazed everyone as she proves that despite not acquiring formal education, she can speak English fluently. The 76-year-old woman named Lola Erlinda Doyog from the Pidilisan tribe in Sagada, Mountain Province shows off her mastery of the English language.

In the video posted on Facebook, Lola Erlinda, also known as “Lola Englisera,” answered every question asked about their community and practices as an indigenous tribe using the foreign language. The interviewer couldn’t help but be amazed and surprised.

“[FB LIVE] Nosebleed kami habang ini-interview si Lola Erlinda Doyog, 76 years old, ng Pidlisan tribe sa Sagada, Mountain Province. Hindi raw siya nakapagtapos ng elementarya pero legit siyang Englisera. 🙂 Watch her proudly talk about her community and their indigenous practices. She also has a message for tourists,” the interviewer wrote in a Facebook post.

As of writing, the post earned 2.1K reactions, 1K shares, and 108K views. Netizens who are also from the Mt. Province praised Lola Erlinda and took pride over their own people. They said that elders in their place are really fluent in English and locals like Lola Erlinda are the “typical old folks of Cordillera,” who can speak English but not Filipino.

“Typical old folks of Cordillera, I remember my grandmother who is better at expressing her views in English,” one commenter said.

“Kausapin mo elders sa amin ng Tagalog, ‘di maintindihan at hirap sila magsalita. Speak in English and they can talk to you,” another netizen confirmed.
