This woman became friends with the duckling she raised from the balut egg she bought in a restaurant.
Are you a pet lover? What is your standard in choosing a pet? For pet lovers like me, choosing the right pet is very important. It’s not just about how cute they are, it about how you will take care of them every day, provide their needs, and deal with their good and bad days. But one Malaysian woman met her pet in a most unique and unexpected way.
Two years ago, the 39-year-old Malaysian girl named Erica Lim surprised her friends and family with her decision to raise this pet. The creative professional from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia fell in love with this little duckling.
Their story started when Lim bough a fertilized duck egg or pre-cooked balut egg in a Vietnamese restaurant in Puchong. In the Philippines, balut is a Filipino snack from a developing, boiled and eaten from the shell. But instead of eating it, she decided to hatch it at home.
At home, she built as DIY incubator made from a Styrofoam box and some heat lamps and placed the egg inside. Two weeks later, a cute little duckling was born and she became a “mother”. Lim fell in love with the little duckling she named ‘Bibit” and developed a beautiful friendship together.
“Ducks make wonderful companions. My Bibit is charming and attentive. I hope more people realize how much fun it is to have a duck as a pet, “ Lim said.
