This former housemaid graduated in PMA and now works in the Philippine Navy.
One netizen named Doc Rod shared on his Facebook post the story of a former housemaid named Meriam Libongcogon from Cebu. The 25-year-old graduated in elementary as a valedictorian and became a high school scholar. Her mother is a farmer while her father works as a carpenter.
To pursue her college, she worked as a housemaid and also help her family. Meriam eventually stopped because she no longer managed her time as a housemaid and a student.
“This is simply inspiring! Dating kasambahay, nagtatapos sa Philippine Military Academy. Siya si Meriam Libongcogon, 25 years old mula sa Cebu. Nagtapos siyang valedictorian noong elementary at scholar noong high school.
Later, she decided to quit being a housemaid in Cebu and moved to Baguio to look for another job. There, she met her foster parent who convinced her to go to the Philippine Military Academy or PMA. She graduated as a 2nd lieutenant last March 12, 2017, as part of the PMA Classics of 2017 and immediately joined the Philippine Navy.
Meriam admitted that many people stopped her from entering the military especially his relatives. She didn’t give in to their opinions instead, obeyed her heart’s desire. Many got impressed and inspired by her determination and diligence.
