This woodpecker created these holes that look like bullet holes.
There are a lot of mysterious things happening in our surroundings that triggers our curiosity. Just like the story of this girl who notices an unusual thing while walking in the woods. According to the woman, while she was walking outside, she notices a unique tree surrounded by small holes.
At first, she thought that these holes are created by bullets that hit the tree in the past where a historical war took place. But she decided to take a closer look to know what are these holes. She found out that these are not created by bullets and it contains Acorns or Oak Nut, rather created by a Woodpecker.
According to Wikipedia, a woodpecker is part of the family Picidae, a group of near-passerine birds that also consist of piculets, wrynecks, and sapsuckers. It could be found worldwide except for Australia, New Guinea, New Zealand, Madagascar, and the extreme polar regions.
While most of them live in forests or woodland habitats, there are also a few species that live in treeless areas, such as rocky hillsides and deserts, and the Gila woodpecker specializes in exploiting cacti.
A woodpecker creates small holes to a tree and hide oak nuts or acorns that they eat. These holes stands as their food storage. A tree could have almost 50,000 small holes and every year, woodpeckers collect thousands of acorns and hide it on those holes. This is a preparation for the coming winter season so they will have something to eat. They also store their food on these holes to maintain it dry and not rot.
