Daughter Of A Garbage Collector Graduated From College.

How much does a garbage collector earn that he was able to support his daughter until she graduated from college?

Through social media, we have heard inspiring stories of people who become successful in life despite struggles and difficulties. Because of determination and perseverance, they were able to overcome all challenges in life and continuously overcoming what comes their way to achieve there dream.

Recently, the story of a daughter of a garbage collector graduated from college inspires many people. In a feature video on GMA Public Affairs’ #DigiDokyu, the 51-year-old Tatay Cristito Quimado earned around Php500 daily. With that, he was able to send all his five kids to school. What made it more inspiring and amazing is the fact that one of his children finishes college.

The emotional dad admitted that in his poverty, education is the only thing he could give to them as a form of inheritance, thus, doing all his best to send them all to school. The video was captioned:

“Alas-tres pa lang ng umaga, namamasura na ang 51-anyos na si Tatay Cristito. Mahigit dalawang dekada na niya itong ginagawa hanggang sa nito lang Abril, napagtapos na niya ang anak sa kolehiyo! Maantig sa kanyang kuwento ng pagsusumikap at sakripisyo sa video na ito!�?

The proud father is so happy that he was able to send his daughter Jenny Rose Quimado, to college. But Tatay Cristito still has to send the rest of his children to college as well.

“Sa awa ng Diyos, isa na ang napatapos ko. Apat pa. Hanggang malakas ako, pipilitin kong makatapos sila. Iyong pag-aaral nila, hindi ko pinababayaan kasi iyon lang ang ano [maibibigay] ko sa kanila, makatapos sila,�? he said.

“Mahirap kasi marami akong anak, e. Pero kahit mahirap kinakaya ko. Minsan nga, wala kaming makain, e.�?

Every time someone asks his children what he do for a living, his children proudly answered ‘Basurero’ [garbage collector].

“Pag tinatanong, ‘Ano’ng trabaho ng tatay mo?’ (Ang isasagot niya ay,) ‘Basurero.’ Hindi siya nahihiya,�? he said.

Jenny Rose is indeed proud of her father.

“Proud ako kasi napagtapos niya ako sa pagbabasura niya and alam kong mapapagtapos niya rin ang mga kapatid ko,�? she said.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa Diyos kasi siya iyong naging tatay ko. Kasi hindi naman po masama iyong trabaho niya at marangal po siya, kahit maliit po iyong kinikita niya, at least, wala po siyang ginagawang masama.�?
