Called as the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio City experienced the intensity of Super typhoon Ompong.
Today’s top of the news is the extensive monitoring of PAGASA of the Supertyphoon Ompong. Local governments in every region especially those who are in the track of the typhoon is now on red alert. People living in nearby seas rivers are being forcibly evacuated.
As the supertyphoon hit the country and took a landfall in Luzon, many areas were greatly affected including a huge part of Benguet.
Baguio City was declared under Signal No. 3 during the wake of Supertyphoon Ompong, with an international name Mangkhut. As the typhoon continues to intensify, the province of experienced high floods.
One netizen from Baguio City named Jordan Rae Salina uploaded the current look of the summer capital of the Philippines. He claims that the place in the video is in Camp 6, Kennon Road Tuba, Benguet. The video shows the intense rains pouring in the city resulting high floods. The strong current seems like it can easily wash away an entire house. The video earned 27K shares 5 hours after it was uploaded.
PAGASA classified Ompong a cyclone with at least 220 kph top winds as a super typhoon, the same category as Yolanda, which pounded the Visayas in 2013. It was also classified earlier as a super typhoon by the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), based on 1-minute instrumental readings.
Super typhoon Ompong is expected to leave the Philippine Area Of Responsibility (PAR) today.
